Mobile phone to blast into orbit

“We’re trying to use as much of the capability of the phone as possible”

Doug Liddle Head of science, SSTL.

British engineers will be using Google’s OS for Android to launch a smartphone into orbit.  This will bring great capabilities to the science and technology industry. If the phone can function in orbital space it could save time and money and also bring new light to apps.

The first major task after having control over the phone will be to control the satellites. If that is possible then smaller and less expensive machines can begin to venture further into space and reveal the mysteries beyond our atmosphere that man has yet to find in time to come.

The apps that will be created can be endless and extraordinary. Although, if this works then that could also bring a whole new world of danger.

Really exciting and yet scary too!
